Reiki is an energy healing therapy.
Reiki is a holistic therapy that works with your body to restore balance and harmony so you can live your best life.
The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words—Rei which means "God's Wisdom" or "Spirit", and Ki which means "life force".
This technique was created in ancient Japan and was originally developed to heal physical, emotional, mental and spiritual conditions by balancing the body's energy system. It involves the use of touch on specific points of the body called chakras (the seven main centres of energy). It's based on the idea that an unseen, universal energy source (reiki) flows through all living things, and when your life force is low it can be restored and enhanced by the use of reiki.
How Reiki Works
Reiki works by channelling energy into a person’s body through the hands of a practitioner. Blockages can occur at any of the seven chakra points causing illness and unease if they're not properly balanced.
Practitioners “scan” the body with their hands, looking for these blockages in the flow of the life force, or ki, in the clients body. The practitioner allows the client's ki to flow into their hands, they can then direct this energy into areas where there is a blockage or imbalance. By treating these areas practitioners are able to improve a person's health and wellbeing.
Training Required to Become a Reiki Practitioner
Reiki practitioners have undertaken training from a “Master” Teacher and to be able to practice must have successfully obtained Level 2 or higher. I myself have obtained a Level 3a, and am currently studying 3b, after which I will obtained a Master level.
